This painting is an oil on panel view of a street in a French town. The well composed view is divided by the road. The perspective is from low to high with the building anchoring the composition. The walking figures provide scale and realism. The colors, especially the use of green, impart a feeling of springtime.The panel measures 8” (21 cm) by 10” (26 cm) and the overall framed dimensions are 17 ½” (44 cm) by 15 ½ “(37 cm). The paint surface is in a very good and stable con...dition. There is a small area loss in the upper middle section. The wide gilt, composition frame features a foliate motif in medium relief plus beading on the outer and inner liners. The artist’s signature is located on the lower right corner.
