Original Description:
Vintage Tavern novelty candles from Socony-Vacuum Oil Company in very good condition - unused and undamaged, in original packaging.  (I have the Puritan Girls in another listing). The box, though distressed, is original.

Socony-Vacuum Oil (Now known as Mobile Oil) Created the Tavern Novelty candles in the 1930s  as a way to reuse the excess paraffin produced in the oil manufacturing process. The candle brand was changed to Gurley in 1949.

The candles measure 2 1.../4" tall.
