Judging by the knapping, it was well used for quite a while, and then abandoned for thousands of years because all the wear marks have a strong patina of age on them.
It is marked Boscombe Station which I think refers to a railway station near Bournemouth, but I can't be certain.
It was collected by a very distant relation of mine who was a quite well known amateur archaeol...ogist in the early 1900s. His name was De Barri Crawshay and he lived in Kent. He collected a great deal (some by purchase, some by excavating sites and most of it was eventually sold to the British Museum. I have some remainders!
This item is of considerable historic interest. This means that if it is sold outside the UK I will need to apply for an export licence (At no cost to the buyer) but there will be a delay of about 28 days before I can post it. If a licence is refused (which I consider unlikely) I will of course refund all payments.
To avoid unnecessary paperwork on a low cost item, all winning bids from outside the UK must be for at least £100.
