Maker: This well loved ceramic turnabout cookie jar shows the famous Donald Duck in his iconic sailor shirt, cap and bow tie on one side and his Brazilian friend, the parrot José Carioca, on the other.
The Carioca character was introduced in the 1942 film Saludos Amigos.
Marks and age: With the designation "Donald Duck and Joe Carioca from the Three Caballeros ©Walt Disney USA" and "Reg. U.S. Pat. Off" on its base, the jar brings back memories of Donald's many classi...c adventures. It's believed to date to the mid-1940s but that is not confirmed.
Size: It's about 13 1/2 inches tall with the lid in place. The base is 6 1/2 inches by 5 3/8 inches wide and the two pieces together weigh 5 pounds 12 ounces.
Condition: There's no pretending that this cookie jar is in great condition. It has a small hairline crack on the inside and it's lost most of its paint. There do not appear to be any nicks, chips or repairs.
