*************************As Imca member Nr 8039, collector and dealer since 1990 I guarantee the authenticity of all my meteorites********************Recently a substantial amount of Iron meteorites have been found in the High Atlas Mountains - MaroccoThey have been officially named Agoudal - also mark...eted under the name "Imilchil"These Iron meteorites have a thick coating of weathering on them which has developed over a long period of timeand actually provides some protection to the metal beneath******************Shocked regions in the meteorite show Kamacite > 1cm, Schreibersite up to cm sizes in the KamaciteTroilite nodules are also present but no plessitte has been noted. Etched pieces show Neumann bands or matte surfacesThis specimen has Regmaglypts and a natural patina as found on location in the Atlas Mountains**************************The first fragment of this meteorite was harvested by a nomad.. Shortly after many pieces of this meteorite came into the Laboratory of the University Ibn Zohr. Immediately a systematic search for meteorites was conducted in an area of 500 × 500 meter squares around the impact craters in the areas indicated by the villagers, especially around the villages of Tasrafet and Agoudal. The members of the laboratory harvested many fragments of this meteorite well preserved in the quaternary (Upper Soltanian) layers, dated 40, 000 years BP . The collected fragments on the both sides of the both impact craters and those collected on the surrounding plains are of the same nature, thus having fragments produced by a large explosion by the impactor during a collision with the soil’s surface. Samples weighing 100 g to more than 9 kg were harvested at several kilometers from the west to the east of the craters this shows the force of the explosion or simply the strewn field direction.Total mass is >100 kg. Hundreds of small pieces (1-100 g), many 100-1000 g, and a few pieces >1 kg, have been recovered. The majority of collected material occurs as 2-5 cm, irregularly shaped shrapnel pieces. Most pieces have a thin weathering rind. Some smaller bullet-shaped (~cm-sized) fragments are rounded, showing well-developed fusion crust.The samples found have a rusty appearance, with scales of alteration of several centimeters thick of oxides and iron hydroxide covering the entire outer surfaces thereof, indicating a long residence time in the soil. Decimeter-sized pieces show a coarse pattern of irregular, interlocking kamacite grains; some grains with sub-boundaries. Widmanstätten pattern not evident in the small sections studied. Grain boundaries commonly curved. Etched pieces range from shiny with well-developed Neumann bands, to pieces with a matte appearance, typical of the hatched ε-structure. The shock-hatched regions show incipient recrystallization, with secondary growth of irregularly-shaped (to 1 mm) kamacite. No plessite observed. Schreibersite abundant occurring as cm-sized skeletal crystals at the centers of kamacite crystals, as rhabdites, and as a grain boundary precipitate. Rhabdites locally numerous as sharp, 10-25 μm faceted prisms. Scattered troilite nodules, to 1 cm. Troilite not surrounded by schreibersite, but instead large skeletal schreibersite is situated a few mm away. Heat-affected zone visible on some stones. Several of the smaller pieces, and especially the rounded bullet-shaped stones, have fusion crust and heated-affected zone of varying thickness; some completely recrystallized.*******************
