This is an antique Japanese late Taisho Era (c.1920) tea cup (Yunomi) and tea pot. There is a design of Japanese samuraia and a poem about an old couple growing contentedly old together. All the artwork is a combination of transfer print as well as hand painted colors (typical of the late Taisho era). The cup and pot were all made over 90 years ago and fired at high temperatures for lasting durability. Both cup and pot are signed by the artist on the bottom, Kutani (see... pictures 9 & 10). The cup measures 3" in diameter by 1 3/4" tall (7.5 x 4.5 cm). The pot is about 3" in diameter by 2 3/4" tall (7.5 x 7 cm) and the handle is 1 1/2" long (3.8 cm). Overall they remain in very fine condition. A great size for enjoying green tea, sencha, or sake! Also a beautiful stand alone piece of late Taisho artwork.
