<History of NIKKAN, YAMAHA>This instrument is the finest “Imperial” tenor saxophone made by NIKKAN in the late 1960s before the name was changed to Yamaha YTS-61.
Japanese musical instruments (Yamaha), which had been successful in organ, piano, and school teaching instruments by the 1960s, acquir...ed “Japanese wind instruments(Nikkan)” in Oimachi, Saitama Prefecture, which was founded in the 1890s and boasts the oldest history in Japan. The advanced model was changed to the YAMAHA brand.
"NIKKAN IMPERIALE Sax" is a model developed using Japanese wind craftsmanship and technology, and is the prototype of the world's Yamaha Sax inherited by the modern YTS-8xx series.
Careful making in the handmade era such as One Piece Low Key Guard that continued until YTS-61, YTS-62I and Direct Post Soldering without using a washer sound wonderfully with the resonance of the tube that cannot be obtained with modern saxophone.
High F # Key is also equipped. Like CONN30M and 26M, it is equipped with a key height adjustment screw mechanism.
Nikkan researched Selmer MarkVI and started developing and producing this Imperiale Model, and after YAMAHA integration, renamed YAS-61 and YTS-61, and blossomed professional models. With Eugene Rousseau as an adviser, he succeeded in the late 1970s with YAS-62 and YTS-62 worldwide hits.
