This bike is a US made 1982 Redline MX-II!
I built this bike the same way that I would have built it when I was a teenager in the 1980's! All of the parts are 1985 or older. From my experience, most of these bikes evolved over time by replacing parts according to budget, and desired parts. My first bike wa...s a late 1970's Team Murray. I had replaced most of the parts, and eventually replaced the frame and forks with a Race Inc. Jr frame and fork set.
For example; as soon as the Dia Compe MX900 brake came out, I would not have, and still today would not install any earlier brake assemblies, because of the look, and quick release feature.
Early 1982 US made Redline MX-II frame and original correct forks (I have spent a year or more unsuccessfully looking for correct matching forks for other 1980's Reline frames). I don't buy vintage frames without the original forks anymore!
Early 1980's DK stem1980's Race Inc. CroMoly bars (rare to find these in chrome/CroMoly) these were less common and more expensive than the aluminum version1980's Ame gripsMid 1980's Dia Compe MX900 brakes and levers (rare to find these bikes with front brakes) Front brakes have 4 times the straight line stopping power of rear brakes only! Front brakes are very important in my opinion!
