For your consideration, we are offering this nice vintage E Martin 4/4 violin and bow. To start I must admit my knowledge of violins is limited so please examine the photos and do not hesitate to contact us for further photos and or clarification. What I have been able to surmise mostly by it's paper label is that this it was made for import into the US. by Ernest Martin (1887- 1955) in Markneukirchen, Saxony, German prior to 1921 as the phrase 'Made in Germany" is missing. It i...s a copy of a Stradivarius which is slightly more desirable as he produced considerably more copies of the Amati violin. With it's nicely flamed grain this violin would be an perfect candidate for restoration, though it appears to have been well loved and played often there does not seem to have been any repairs. The finish looks to be original showing signs of wear especially on the neck. There is a light scratch on it's back and a few slight nicks, most notable opposite the f hole. The bridge has come loose but is included. The accompanying bow with it's mother of pearl insets seems to be of the same vintage but is unmarked. It too appears to wear it's original finish and shows no signs of repair or stress cracks. All this beauty is conveniently carried in a vintage hard shell Bruno case. So please again examine the photos and ask questions. Bid with confidence as we stand behind our auctions and will gladly refund your purchase price if unhappy for any reason (buyer pays return shipping).
