Here's a McIntosh MR-77 Stereo Tuner. The tuner comes from a private audio engineering museum in western North Carolina, and it's one of dozens of vintage audio items from the museum that I'll be listing over the next few months. I'm offering these pieces "as found." Most of them work, but some don't. In all cases, I'll try to provide an accurate assessment of electrical condition and suitability for use based on limited testing. I don't have the time, energy or skill to repair the pieces that aren't working, so please read the descriptions carefully to make sure you get what you're expecting.
Cosmetic condition of this tuner is very good overall, and it powers up, tunes stations and plays, but the output is noisy, so it's being offered for parts or repair. It will need to be professionally serviced in order to work properly.
I was using the tuner for several months as a line source for testing amps, preamps and receivers, and it was working quite well, but over a period of about a week, the output from both channels began to get noisy, and though the meters are still responding properly to radio signal strength, there's static in the output, even for nearby stations. Except for the noise in the output, all functions (muting, filter, auto) appear to be working okay, though as I said, the radio will need to be serviced. It is not working properly.
Lights and meters are working. Clean chrome and case paint. Note that there are a few areas of what appears to be delamination on the back side of the reversed painted panel glass.
Please look at the pictures. They should speak for themselves.
When you've finished checking out my ebay listings this week, take a look at my TechnoGallerie website, where you can buy hard-to-find antique phonographs, antique radios, antique cameras and other gadgets you're not likely to see anywhere else. Just type TechnoGallerie in the address line of your web browser and hit the enter key. TechnoGallerie has a newsletter, too, and if you take a second to sign up for it, you'll receive an email update whenever I list something new on the site -- typically once a week.
That's about it. I will package the amp properly so that it arrives at your doorstep safely. I've been shipping fragile electrical antiques for years, and if you check my feedback, you'll see that I know how to do it correctly.
