Con - Cor Burlington Route CB&Q “Pioneer Zephyr” Streamliner Hard To Find
Item History & Price
Up for your consideration is a Con-Cor Chicago, Burlington and Quincy Pioneer Zephyr loco 3 car Passenger train-set (Discontinued).
Road# 9900 Color: Stainless Steel
This is an awesome looking locomotive and car set! Nice smooth runner.Tested when purchased. I laid over 60 feet of flex-track down the tiled hallway and ran the locomotive. It was quick and quiet! Using a speed measuring app for the iPhone, this Streamliner ran 88-129 Scale MPH...!
This locomotive comes from a collection, destined for a layout, which never materialized. This was one of my favorite train types, I hate to part with it. My loss is your gain!
Model was stored in a clean, dry, pet free and smoke free environment.Locomotive wheels show little wear. The two passenger cars show no wheel wear.
Once while running the engine unit by itself, it derailed and rolled over striking other cars and an engine. There are a few small scrapes on the left front of the engine unit, several rubs on roof and headlight housing. Also a rub on the left rear, forward of the diaphragm. The first exhaust stack is missing the tip. (Did I mention that it is quick?)These are indicated with red in the pictures.

Synonymous With Streamliner!
Pioneer Zephyr is a name that has become synonymous with the word "streamliner."Whilst the Union Pacific was running their M-10000 "Streamliner" some months before the Zephyr was put into service in May of 1934, the Zephyr stole the public relations show and is the better-known and more widely remembered. The train had an iconic sleekness that made it easy for the public to identify. When it made its record breaking 1015 mile run on May 26th from Denver to Chicago, the Pioneer Zephyr gained even more fame, traversing the 1015 miles non-stop in just 13 hours, 4 minutes and 58 seconds to arrive at the Opening of the Century of Progress Exposition. There, it was one of the biggest attractions during the summer of 1934.Before it went into regular service in the autumn of 1934, it traveled to over 220 different American cities and was toured by over 2 million people.Even if you are not a Burlington Route fan, it is quite possible that the Zephyr visited your city and could run on your layout as a white flagged special just like the original train did.The Pioneer Zephyr also stared in the movie Silver Streak and was seen by millions more people all over the world.
