Looks to be a complete and original Single Buffered RK11-C (per the label, hard to read in the picture). Dated 8/11/72
Like many of the earlier large peripheral controllers for the PDP-11, the RK11-C was a large custom wire-wrapped backplane which bolts into the front or back of a 19 inch rack, such as an H960; into it were plugged about 40 small M-Series FLIP CHIPs.The RK11-C supports up to 4 drives per device bus (it uses 4 different 'se...lect' lines on the bus, one of which is asserted at a time), and has two device busses.
This item comes from the extensive collection of a software and hardware engineer who lived in the fast lane of 60's, 70's, and 80's tech. He partied hard, really hard, but he balanced it with a passion for his work. That's why the main floor of his house is a shaggy 70's party pad with hi-fi equipment in every corner, a '73 Firebird in the garage, and the basement is a museum warehouse of vintage computing gold. The latter--computers, monitors, disk drives, hard drives, cables, chips, power supplies, printers, manuals, advertising, punch cards, and more from pioneers like DEC, Pertec, Tektronix, HP, Scotch, Memorex, Soroban, IBM, AMD, and more--is what you will find here. Every item is vintage and untested (unless noted otherwise) and may require tinkering and repair.
