c1918 WWI Photograph AlbumUS Army Soldier Portraits + Personal Snapshots and Mini PostcardsWar Photos & SnapshotsOffered here is a circa 1918 photograph album filled with black and white photos featuring World War I soldiers and scenes of the war in Europe.​​​​​​​20 pages, roughly half of the album's black scrapbook pages have been filled with photos.
Images include personal military portraits of young soldiers in unifo...rm and a collection of professionally captioned WWI photos dating to approximately 1917-1918. Some of these views were taken by news photographers of the day and were used in postcards that soldiers purchased as souveniers and in sets. Such postcard images pasted into this book measure between 3" x 2.5" and 4.25" x 3" inches.
Scenes include: Street in Novon mined by Germans, Ruins of church at Ablain, Abandoned German Chasse plane, Night flight at Le Bourget, French 220 Trench Mortar in action, French grenadiers in a trench, Dead German soldier on the battlefield, French heavy artillery in winter snow, Ruined homes at Chateau Thierry, Marshall Foch and General Pershing at Chaumont, American HQ, American artillery near Lenoncourt (Meuse), US cemetery at Belleau Wood, Remains of a "boche", Camouflaged road in France, Toul French Chasse plane ready for flight, USS Lianga at Bordeaux, Alsatian girls in ethnic costumes, "Inflating a French sausage", Clemenceau visiting French aviation camp near front, Rheims Cathedral, Aboad USS Rumpler readying for submarines, Top fighter ace Captain Guynemer in 'Old Charles', German plane brought down, American ambulance service with French army, A German cemetery blown up by a shell, and more.
Other photos are full length studio portraits or RPPCs of soldiers, snapshot of a lone soldier at Fort Logan, a group of young nurses, a few snapshots of soldiers fooling around and having fun; some young women playing ukeleles, one girl is identified as Mary Wood, another Norma Miller.​​​​​​​

Overall in good condition; general wear to album covers and pages. Some pages loose. 20 single-side pages filled with photos. Remaining pages are unused.
