Vintage Kaiser Brass Bird Cage Annular Dial Wind - Up Clock W/ Stand Made Germany
Item History & Price
Up for bid and for your consideration is a vintage Kaiser brass bird cage, annular dial, wind-up, alarm clock with stand. Made in Germany.
This little clock is a real gem and would be at home with elegant decor or even shabby chic! To you alarm clock collectors it would be a wonderful addition to your collection!
The Details:
The cage measures just over 5-1/2 inches tall from ...the bottom of the feet to the top of the hanging ring, and almost 2-3/4 inches diameter at the base. The stand is about 7-1/2 inches tall, and 4-1/8 inches diameter at the base.
The time is read by a single red pointer that indicates the time on the silver colored annular dials with the minutes read from the top of the unit and the hours marked on the bottom in black Arabic numbers. The minutes are numbered in ten minute increments. The alarm set indicator is printed in gold on the bottom of the cage.
The cage is gold colored and is attached to a brass base which conceals the clock movement. The top of the cage has a brass accent that is grooved to hold the bars in place. That is topped with a gold colored hanging loop. The loop has a screw on the bottom that attaches to a screw on the inside of the cage, holding the whole top assembly together.
The bird is the original celluloid bird that swings back and forth with the seconds.
There are three little feet on the bottom of the cage, allowing the cage to just sit on the table if desired.
The set knobs and winders are all present and original. There is a slider to turn the alarm on and off and there is also a fast/slow slider.
The clock works, as does the alarm. It keeps reasonable time for a novelty clock. It has an 30 hour movement.
The clock is marked: "Kaiser" under the twelve on the alarm set dial. The stand is marked "Germany" on the edge of the base aligning with the hanging arm.
These little clocks typically sit on a table or other flat surface, this one does too, but the base has a hole cut into the green cardboard liner allowing it to be hung on the wall! (see photos)
This delightful clock would be a great addition to your clock collection or a finishing touch to your home decor! Maybe you know someone who would enjoy this as a gift? Why not bid now?!
