When it came time to create the title that would eventually lead to justice league international, most of the original team were no longer available, being tied up in other storylines and other threads in some of the books being restarted by John Byrne’s reboot of Superman and Crisis On Infinite Earth and several all encompassing storylines throughout the DC universe. What was left, became the core membership of the new justice league

JLI, created in 1987, was the proverbial red haired, superhero step child, one of the best humor books in DC publishing history, featuring a series of second-tier characters… And Denny O’Neil’s loaned Batman character… And became one of the most successful books in DC history. It also became one of the most enjoyable...And one of the hardest things to produce in comics, a successful superhero humor book. This 22x24 promotional poster, released by DC to boost sales on the first issues, features the entire early team in all their glory… It was released only to comic book stores carrying the book and never available to the general public… It’s in great shape for the age, 35 years and counting.
