BLACK AMERICANA FOLK ART BOY & GIRL CLOTH DOLLS The Girl Has Real Hair Heads Swivel From a Connecticut Estate Auction comes this Very Rare Wonderful NORAH WELLINGS Hand-Made FOLK ART PAIR OF BLACK AMERICANA BOY & GIRL CLOTH DOLLS. Measuring about 8 1/4” tall, these were lovingly made and I didn't want to break up the family by selling them separately. Both heads swivel and the girl has what I believe... is real hair. These are both in excellent vintage condition with very light soiling but all limbs intact with some wear to the wool on the boys arms and one leg.
In 1926, Norah established Victoria Toy Works in Wellington, Shropshire, England. The factory had six employees, including some family members. Although these dolls were produced in a factory, they all had hand-made or hand-painted elements to them. She closed the factory in 1956 meaning these are 70+ years old.
