It's my pleasure to offer at auction a somewhat Scarce and rather Nice C.1916-1920 ILLINGWORTH "No.3", SERIES J M 2, No.6104 VERY EARLY SPINNING/CASTING REEL WITH BOX. Made in England during the early part of the last century and represents one of the earlier spinning reels that were ever produced. This example appears all-original and still retains some of the bronze patina. The face of the spool is marked " "ILLINGWORTH No.3" CASTING REEL - PATS. 17157 - 1913 & PAT. U.S.A. 187840... - 1916 - SERIES J M 2 - No.6104". Comes equipped with removeable spool, very strong clicker, strong 13-position drag setting, an unaltered foot and an off-set handle with early plastic or hard rubber grip. Reel is in Very Good or better condition, showing moderate wear for these. Displays nicely. Works perfectly and is smooth-running. Put up in what may or may not be the original box, in fair condition. Missing the buckle and with a broken strap, it still offers some level of protection. A great example of one of the earlier spinning reels produced. To be sold with a very low starting bid and NO RESERVE.
