This radio set is designated 1088-USA, an export model made in West Germany intended for the American market. It's perhaps a 1958, maybe 1959. Three selectable frequency bands are shortwave, FM, and broadcast (AM). The cabinet has typical crazing, wear and age spots; the trim and plastic is much the same. As of late February 2021, all the select buttons worked, the EQ presets worked, and the bass and treble individual EQs worked. The power section functions and output was audible; the ...eye tube worked at that time. Please read further for more clarification:the issues with this set are:
--the tuning string is broken so the dial is not functional.
--one of the four feet is broken away, and one of the four base screws on the bottom is gone.
--some typical through-wear on the wood, notably the top, like thousands of wood cabinet pieces of the 1950s, it had objects placed atop it over the years...
--the 2-prong AC power interlock has become loose in its housing, so when attempting to mount the rear panel (which integrates the AC power cord), the receptacle is just pushed aside or further back into its assembly. If you plan to restore this unit, you may need to engineer a solution to mate the two power leads or otherwise bolster the interlocking receptacle so it easily lines up with the rear panel AC cord end.
