1959 Alumacraft Queen Merrie
Item History & Price
It’s time to sell my 1959 18’ Alumacraft Queen Merrie, itcomes with an excellent 1958 Evinrude Starlite 50 HP and a solid trailer with alight tongue weight. This boat was fully restored (off trailer) from scratch(see original photo), all new wood, NOS parts with the attempt to stay originalas possible but also to make it useful for fishing, cruising, skiing (theengine will easily pull up two skiers – excellent torque) and shows. The frontdeck rails are original and show great pat...ina wear, in some places to thebrass, they would be impossible to find these days. All chrome and stainless isexcellent with the exception of the windshield corner supports which showpitting and have been sanded smooth but these too would be impossible to find. The mahogany dash surround is not stock but makes for a nice appearance. All controls work as they should, the electric choke is tiedto the ignition, turns on when pushed, comes with bilge pumps but has no leaks.Includes a new Lowrance GPS and depth/fish finder. All safety equipment isincluded including life jackets, lights, horn, etc. – everything that meetsfederal and Tennessee requirements. Has one vented 12-gallon fuel tank and 5gallons reserve, excellent deep cell battery, vintage correct trolling motor thatworks great. Full canvas top that can be used as a Bimini type or as a fullcamper cover as shown in the pictures. Everything works as it should. The photos in the water were taken last Saturday, the enginefires up, idles great transitions to high rev smoothly, shifts easy. The boathandles very well, very smooth through rough lake water, corners with grace andpulls into a plane so smoothly the transition is not noticeable. All in all, anexcellent classic runabout.I am 76 years old can no longer launch the boat myself, myson-in-law helped to get it into the water last week (it’s an easy task). Iwanted to test it before putting her up for sale to make sure that all wasgood. The only problem I found is that the shift dog has worn and willoccasionally pop out of gear under load. I have purchased a NOS shift dog butam unable to install the new one due my lack of mobility. I have done itbefore; it is an easy job with no fancy tools. The boat can be used as is, butuntil the dog is replaced it will skip out of gear and can damage related gearsif use is prolonged. It won’t skip at lower speeds so if you are just fishing, it’s fineAnyway, I hate to let her go and I have set no reserve butwill start the auction at a low $1950 and will sell to the highest bidder. Ifyou know the boat and motor, you know what it’s worth – sadly it is time tomove on. I will be happy to answer any and all questions. Please note: Tennessee is not a title state for boats, outboards or even trailers, no license plates are required for the trailer, sothis is bill of sale only. Thanks for your time.Dave
