Offered in this sale is a vintage Chinese Yixing clay teapot that I would say dates to the 20th century. It is marked on the underside of the base which you can see illustrated in the 2nd image. It is also marked on the inside surface of the cover (5th imag...e). It measures roughly 3" tall and is 5 7/8" across from the handle to the spout. It has a grayish black surface finish. One side is decorated with an incised tree design which flows up and continues on to the cover. There are four Chinese character marks to the right of the tree beneath the branch. I know very little at all about these Asian clay teapots. I am assuming this is Chinese. I am sure it will be instantly recognized by anyone who reads the language. The condition is excellent. There are no chips, cracks, flakes, hairlines or restoration. Please be sure to enlarge and zoom each image for a close up view of the detail of the decoration and condition.
