DEPECHE MODE BEHIND THE WHEEL ULTRA RARE DJBONG15 WHITE LABEL TEST PRESSING!!!!
This is arguably the rarest and most valuable Depeche Mode 7". When Behind The Wheel was being set up for release Mute records had various versions and remixes of the record made for release. Some for commercial release and some potentially for Promotion release only.
THIS TEST PRESSING IS VERY VERY RARE!
Lore has it that Mute wanted a more "springy and poppy" version of Behind The Whee...l for radio and as such an additional mix was made that added a snare and high hat to the mix. This "remix" known only as the "DJBONG15" remix is called such as other than by listening to it it is only detectable from normal pressings by the matrix etching in the run out groove on the wax which is inscribed as DJBONG15
This exclusive, unreleased and unique mix has the etching "DJBONG15" in the dead wax on the 7". Other versions that do NOT have this mix are indicated by DSBONG15 (with the S being for shop; as in store) or just a standard 7BONG15 matrix.
A handful of these promos were actually shipped to radio and are very hard to find. The story goes that the band never approved the mix and subsequent copies were not shipped which is why they are so scarce.
The copy I am selling is a very special version of this very rare release. Up for auction is the White Label Test Pressing for DJBONG15. Along with the scarcity of this remix the test pressing has an uncredited (NOT Depeche Mode ) version of "Dueling Banjos". This oddity occasionally happens when the plant is asked to make rush test pressings and are given no instruction about B-side so they just grab some public domain music and use that in the interim
This 7' is 100% authentic and I am the original owner of this and have had it for nearly 30 years. It was acquired by me through someone at Mute many years ago. Please note and respect that is all the information I can provide about its sourcing.
Although people have said a box of 25 of these were pressed there were actually less than 10 ever made. The rest are probably lost.
It has all the known matrix etchings which you can see in the photos. ** note it is very hard to photograph these etchings but I have done the best job possible.

The Etchings on Side B are:"Strawberry""K-16223B"
I am including a standard Behind The Wheel UK 7" sleeve but this only originally came in a generic white 7" sleeve.
I have NEVER seen one of these for sale in the 30 years i have it.
A chance to own of the most collectible Depeche Mode items. Along with DMBS 1-4, The Withdrawn Music For The Massive sleeve and a few Japanese promo only 3" CD this is a crown jewel item
