An Interesting Antique Japanese Edo ( 17-18 Century) Smoking Set consisting of:Tonkotsu / Tobacco Box , Netsuke and Ojime.Tonkotsu made of snapping turtle shell and imitates the birch tree bark as well as the top and the bottom of the box made of the carved boxwood and slightly lacquered.Size:70mm x 115mm x 55mm.The Netsuke is a solid piece of high quality black polished Roiro lacquer. Size:37mm x 52mm x 12mm.The ojime is a piece of the red polished coral bead. Size:10mm x 8mm diameter....Early tobacco boxes were frequently unsigned. During the Meiji period, smokers often chose to wear a tobaco-ire or tobacco pouch instead of a tonkotsu.Thank you!
