This is a large section of the original gold Kapton foil that flew in space as part of the Apollo-Soyuz mission. This piece of foil was attached to the Apollo command module during the entire mission and was removed after the return to earth.
Kapton foil was used on Apollo spacecraft as part of the thermal protection system.
This piece of Kapton measures about 1 5/8" x 1 7/8". It's housed in a glassine envelope. The envelope is attached to the original certificate of authenti...city signed personally by Ken Havekotte, a well known expert in space collectibles.
