1957 was an important year for Pan Am. They celebrated their thirtieth year of service, and Juan Trippe's thirtieth year of presidency. In those thirty years 13 new and advanced aircraft types were placed in service. Jets were added the following year in 1958. New maintenance and overhaul facilities were under construction. Airports around the world were being enlarged and modernized for jet traffic.
I...t was another profitable year for Pan American. Once again Pan American carried more passengers, mail, and cargo overseas than any other airline.
Pan American's space age, new terminal at New York Intl was under construction.
All DC-6 and DC-7 aircraft were fully equipped with airborne radar.
