As I said above, she truly is a fabulous headvase. And this is my last one I have to sell. I have had 8 of this gal, I recently sold one on e-bay with the original price tag of 98-cents (Kresge's). Hard to believe from those beginnings to a few years back when this vase sold for over $5000.00. From a dime-store item to as prestige as she has become throughout the years. She is truly my favorite in 40 years of collecting. She was a featur...e vase in an article on our collection that appeared in newspapers and magazines across the US and Canada. This gal, like her sister I sold a couple weeks back, came from a Canadian estate in the Maritime Provinces of Canada. The lady had two of them all her life, this one and the one I recently sold.
She is the 6-inch version. You might recall that another e-bay seller sold the very rare 7-inch version (Sample) on e-bay for $3500.00 a week or so ago. It is however thought that this smaller version could very well have been salesmen's samples for the larger one, as it seems only a couple dozen have surfaced that I am aware of. Of course there is no way to prove this.
She has no chips, cracks, or hairlines. There is very, very faint crazing on the back of her neck in one spot. It surely does not detract from her amazing beauty. She is clean inside, marked Japan on the bottom. Everything is original, her earrings, and the flower/broche in her hair. She has great colouring.
