This is avest worn by Leo G. Carroll in the 1938 MGM film version of A Christmas Carol, starring Reginald Owen as Scrooge, costumes by Valle. The numbering on the vestindicates the film and the actor's name is written on it. This vest isclearly visible in the pictures of Marley from the film. The vest has twopockets and seven buttons (which look like they may be abalone or a facsimileof it). The vest still shows the fold out at the top of the button line, as itwas worn in the film... (see photos). Followingare some measurements taken from the vest while laid flat:Bottom ofvest, across: 16 1/2”Acrossvest at underarm: 18”Acrossvest shoulder to shoulder: 13 1/4”Collar:16”Topbutton to bottom button: 15”Back ofvest, top to bottom: 20”Collar(measured around actual collar): 16”Pleasenote these are not actual measurements of traditional size that one mightexpect. The vestbears the inventory number used to catalog each film at MGM, in this case#1068. The vestis in pretty good condition overall, but shows natural signs of age for aproduction worn costume piece. This costume has been stored in a closet and hasnot been seen since MGM disbanded and sold off inventory. Please see all pictures and please ask all questions before purchase. Thanks and Good Luck!!!
