DescriptionSascha Brastoff (1918-1993) was a costume designer for 20th Century Fox when Winthrop Rockefeller happened upon one of Sascha's sculptures and offered to finance him. In 1947, his ceramics business opened in West Los Angeles and Sascha's lavish and flamboyant st...yle became available in bowls, vases, dishes, and ashtrays. Sascha went on to design custom jewelry, and his work is part of the permanent collection at New York's Guggenheim Museum and Museum of Modern Art, as well as other institutions in LA and Houston.
This wonderful, uniquely shaped vase is handcrafted with gold overglaze in a Modernist pattern that evokes Asian design. In excellent condition, it measures 8” tall on a 3” round base. Signed Sascha B, 082. A great piece.
