This helicopter-inspired timekeeper by Victorinox / Swiss Army – Alpnach Mechanical Chronograph Limited Edition watch features a brushed black pvd steel case, black canvas & leather Strap, black pvd uni-directional rotating bezel with 60 minute diving scale on outer part & tachymeter scale on inner part, Black dial, Black/white & luminous hand indicators, luminous hour markers, Chronograph functions; Small second, 30-minute, 12-hour counters & tachymeter scale. Power reserve indicator at the 3 o'clock position & Date Displayed at the 6 o'clock position. Dial is protected by a scratch resistant sapphire crystal, Push/pull crown is engraved with Swiss Army Insignia, Screw-in transparent case back, Features a reliable and precise Swiss automatic mechanical chronograph movement, ETA Valjoux 7750, 25 Jewels, Water resistant to 10 ATM / 100 meters / 330 feet.Victorinox Swiss Army has launched a new restricted series of timekeepers which is appropriately inspired by the Swiss armed forces, or to be more exact, the most important helicopter base in the country- Alpnach. The number of elements of its design is meant to replicate some of the features of AS 532 Cougar helicopter, the most commonly used model by the Alpine nation’s air force. Besides, this automatic chronograph comes in a limited edition consisting of symbolical 445 pieces which is the number that matches the altitude of Alpnach air base.Overall, the distinctive helicopter-inspired design is not that different from watches from the brands sub-collection of Alpnach (for example on the previously launched Alpnach Automatic Chronograph) which is part of the larger Professional series. In addition, the limited edition gets a significant splash of beautifully executed superluminova dial lume as compared to the general production run Alpnach model. Still there are some visual differences as the choice of the central seconds hand, or its interesting looking crown with protection. More importantly, the difference of the product from the majority of the brand’s timekeepers is the inclusion of a power reserve indication which is highly uncommon for Victorinox timepieces (the other watch with this complication was the initial model from the legacy collection).Victorinox Alpnach Mechanical Chronograph Limited Edition timekeeper (with the reference number 241574) features an all-black appearance with its dark face being paired with luminous elements (on the hands, subsidiary counters and its unidirectional countdown bezel). The housing of the watch is forged from 316L stainless steel with black PVD coating, while its diameter is 44mm. On the front side of the timekeeper, there is a sapphire crystal with triple glare-proof coating. Besides, the back of the housing which is secured by screws also includes a transparent section made from sapphire. The overall construction allows water resistance to 100 meters.The caliber used in the new limited edition by Victorinox is not that special or unusual either, since it is ETA 7750, one of the most commonly utilized mechanical movements. The caliber features self-winding and a power storage that lasts for 42 hours. As for the attachment, the watchmaker that started off as a manufacturer of Swiss Army knives opted for a black ballistic nylon strap which fastens with a push-button deployant clasp.
