This is a remarkable find. It is a sterling presentation snuff box that was given to A.G. Waldo. Waldo was a prominent employe and patent holder, who worked at the Reliance Works, of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The Reliance Works was a forerunner of the Allis Chalmers Company. The snuff box measures 3-1/2" x 1-3/4" x 3/4", and is in near-mint condition. It is beautifully engraved all over, and is inscribed, "A.G. Waldo, from his fellow workmen of the Reliance Works, Milwaukee, Jan 1, 1873". ...The box retains most of its original gilding inside. It is marked on the flange of the lid, "Sterling", and also with the trademark for the Whiting Manufacturing Company. Please ask any questions and see all the photos.
