The condition of this c1900 locket is very good.
This locket has clearly been very well cared for over the years.
I particularly like the depth to this locket and the shape is really unusual, different to your regular oval or round lock...et, beautiful!
There is fine detail and beautiful engraving in this gorgeous rose gold. There are no hallmarks on the locket, this antique piece has been acid tested.
The front and back are 9ct gold, the inside frame and hinge and loop are not, as was often the case, this is for strength purposes.This is a VERY special piece and would make a wonderful treat for yourself or a marvellous forever gift.
Inside the locket, there are plastic covers for your photographs, one side already has a beautiful historical photograph, the other has a green wallpaper, very William Morris in style!
Could be worn either way thanks to the beautiful craftsmanship on both sides of the locket.
The centre has a beautiful flower, the bottom too, on the front, this is a forget-me -not, very poignant for a locket.
Very good to excellent antique condition, minimal wear, and the locket shuts and opens well. There is a nice small plain section to have initials engraved upon should you wish. Only the slightest / smallest of dinks to the bottom half of the locket, see photographs.
Weight approx. 8g a good substantial weight.
26mm top to bottom approx., not including the bail.
