On offer is a Rare and Scarce to the Military Medal Market, Genuine and Original (Including Impressed Naming),
Six Medal Gallantry Group, To, Major Roy Vivian Murray. Royal Irish fusiliers, Royal Inniskilling... Fusiliers, Machine Gun Corps, Tank Corps and Indian Army Service Corps.
Royal Vivian Murray of Dundrum House, Dundrum, Co.Dublin, Ireland.
Commissioned into the 5th Royal Irish Fusiliers 24/9/14 at the age of 23, he transferred to the 5th Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers and first saw action as a Lieutenant at Gallipoli, 10/7/15. He took part in operations in Macedonia, 31/3/16 - whilst in Macedonia he then went to the Machine Gun Corps, seeing service in Egypt and Palestine ( Salonika Field Force ), during which he won his Military Cross and Mentioned In Despatches! By this time he was Deputy Commander (Acting Major), of the 10th M.G.C. At the end of the war he was give the rank of Substantive Captain and held this rank in the actions in Iraq, 10/12/19 - 17/11/20 with the 17th Batt, M.G.C. He transferred to the Tank Corps circa 1923 and was promoted to full Captain. He was afterwards attached to the India Army until 1937, and saw action on the North West Frontier 1930-31 at Peshawar, and operations around Bajam. He was promoted to Major in 1933 and retired with that rank in 1937.
After this long and Gallant Military Career Major Roy Vivian Murray, M.C. M.I.D. (Retired), on the 19th of October 1940 while in the Regent Palace Hotel, London was caught in the Luftwaffe bombing of the Hotel and was severely injured, he died the same day at Charing Cross Hospital! He was 50 years of age! ( He is classed as a 2nd World War, War Casualty)!
The Medal Group is swing mounted on its original bar with its original ribbons!
And is presented in its Spinks Red Moroccan Leather medal case.
