Flawless* Fischer Budapest Vase with generous gold leafing and hand-painted blue, mauve, red, and yellow.
Highly ornate reticulation appears throughout the body, handles, and neck. Marked on the underside with a blue stamp.Fischer J. Budapest was founded by Ignace Fischer in Pest, Hungary, in 1864. (Pest is the eastern half of modern Budapest which was united with the western half, Buda, in 1873). His pieces bear the mark “Fischer J.” with the “J” being the same letter... as “I” in Hungarian. The Fischer factory was bought by Zsolnay Pottery in 1895. Hence, the piece dates between 1864 and 1895.*Inspected by reputable antique dealer and found not to have been repaired in any way.
