This is a 1992 Sample Proto-Type Baseball Glass that was made for a proposed set of Give-A-Way Baseball Glasses for Mc Donalds Fast Food Restaurants during the Baseball season. I live in Toledo home of Libby Glass. In this era the Company was one of the main makers of various collector glasses. They made this George Brett Glass as a Sample for a proposed set of 44 Glasses of star MLB active players. You can see on the back he would have been Nbr 6 of... 44. (Brett retired in 1993) The company when they presented the proposal to Mc Donalds was turned down as it was too many glasses for them to handle for a promotion. Eventually the company presented a new idea the following year and just had a Hall of Fame Set of 9 Glasses which are commonly seen with a similar design Of course all Samples were supposed to have been destroyed. One of the employees who worked in the sample department was a George Brett fan and "lunch bucketed' 2 of the sample glasses out - one for him and his brother. I purchased the 2 glasses he had from him. I sold one several years ago and had kept this in my personal collection which I am now liquidating. Glass is in mint condition. I have never seen any of the other proposed 43 players in the set and if they were made apparently they were all destroyed by the company. E-mail if you have any questions.
