Appropriately, Chicago's Comiskey Park hosted the All-Star Game in 1983. The special meaning for this particular Mid-Summer Classic is that it marked the 50th-year Anniversary of the event. Both Leagues rejoiced in funding an extravaganza to showcase the game's most glorious veterans. This game of ours is an institution that defines the American character, and our re-affirmation of its heritage should be staged more frequently. In the course of that particular All-Star Game, 23 of thos...e honored guests penned this Official Ball from the 1983 All-Star Game (Bowie Kuhn commissioner). Most of the signatures on this ball now sadly are owned by deceased legends of the game. Includes autographs of: Hank Greenberg, Willie Mays, Jocko Conlan, Joe DiMaggio, Waite Hoyt, Lefty Gomez, Joe Cronin, Bob Feller, Travis Jackson, Bob Lemon, Ralph Kiner, A Kaline, Buck Leonard, Eddie Mathews, Earl Averill, Monte Irvin, Happy Chandler, Rick Ferrell, Burleigh Grimes, Charlie Gehringer, Edd Roush, Joe Sewell, and Judy Johnson.
