For auction is this original CDV photograph signed by James Ewert or Ewart (listed both ways in Fold3 and CW Data). He enlisted into B Company 2nd IL Cavalry and promoted captain 2/16/1863. His captain bars are clearly visible in the image. The photograph was taken by A.D. Lytle of Baton Rouge..., LA. The 2nd Illinois was stationed here in June of 1864.
The 2nd Illinois Cavalry saw action at Belmont, Ft Henry, New Madrid, Shiloh, Siege of Corinth, Iukoa, Vicksburg, Champions Hill, Red River Campaign etc.
The card has some foxing and print marks, image remains clear.
