Up for bid, is a real nice mid to late 19th Century US Naval Officer's Bicorne Hat. The material is made of beaver with the original black feather at the top. The insignia on the side of the hat is a beautifully detailed stitched naval ship with a eagle at the top and below the ship it reads "Excelsior". The hat was made by Baker & McKenney Military Goods New York which was founded in 1847 by John A. Baker. It was a military outfitter that manufactured and imported ...uniforms, hats and equipment for the United States Army. The firm changed its name to Ridabock & Company in 1888. I have taken some detailed pictures of the hat so you can judge the condition and quality of this historical hat. The hat is worn around the edges and the inside of the hat is in very good condition with its original leather sweat band. I am going to start this auction at a very low starting bid. Good luck and happy bidding.
