1918 WWI Pilot ' S Uniform Wings Air Service Officer

This is a very nice WWI pilot's uniform that belonged to Lieutenant James Buffington from Fall River, Mass. Buffington was a Harvard graduate and came from a very prestigious family. He commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in 1918 and served in Kelly Field and Ellington Field. He never made it overseas prior to the Armistice. The uniform is a cotton twill which is unusual for an officer's uniform from WWI. The collar devices were made by BB&B and are very high quality. The uniform w...as found without collar devices when purchased, so the BB&B ones were bought and placed on the collar. The pilot's wings on the uniform are the original wings and look like they are the very same wings that were in the portrait taken of Lt Buffington. The wings are American made and are in fantastic shape. There are three original photos of Buffington that are included with the uniform. Research on the veteran can be provided upon request.
