The item up for sale is an antique game in its original box made circa 1872.
The box top reads : "Parquetspiel Art of Parqueter L'art de parqueter."
The underside of the box has a hand-written date in ink : "1872 12/1."
The box measures 6 inches long X 5 3/8 inches wide X 1 1/4 inches high.
The game has a color print paste-down on the sliding lid; a single sheet of color printed parquetry designs; and two layers of triangle & diamon...d shaped wooden pieces making a total of 30 pieces. The top layer is missing a single piece. The box has stains, wear to the edges, scratches, soiling, and small losses to the paper covering along the edges. All of the corners are intact.
The top edge of the left side of the box is missing so the lid only slides in along the groove on the right side & rest in the groove on the back side.
The pieces are slightly worn & lightly soiled.
The directions sheet has tears, age toning, foxing spots, bends & creases. Please see all of the photos included with description for condition and feel free to ask any questions.
