For Restoration - Which Looks To Be A Simple Enough Task
With Distinguishing Features Associated With 'Lyon & Healy'
But With No Visible Makers Marks, So Could Possibly Be A Hand Crafted Folk Piece.
With Three Of The Five Detailed Carved Bone Tuning Pegs Remaining
Metal And Mother Of Pearl Inlay On The Neck Is All Present And Good
It Has What Looks To Be A Fruitwood Fret Board
Around The Body There Is 20 Of The 24 Latches Remaining Which Hold The Skins (so missing four), So The Missing Ones Will Need Replacing
The Body And Neck Look To Be Good And Straight, The Bent Wood Inside The Body Is Free From Any Damage/Splits, The Outer Body Metal Work Looks To Be Good And Complete.
So From What I Can Gather It Requires Skins, Latches, Two Tuning Pegs, A Bridge And A Set Of Strings. But I Have Included 24 Images For Bidders To Access As I'm Not An Expect With Banjos, What Is In The Images Is What Is On Offer And Does Not Have Any Other Loose Pieces. The Only Other Thing It Would Benefit From Is A Clean Up Of The Metal Areas, It Has Been Stored Away For Many Decades In The Condition It Is In. I Have Simply Give It A Dust Down And Polished The Fret Board, Which Looks To Be In Very Good Condition.
Dimensions: full length from top to bottom 94cm x the including the headstock 62cm x diameter of body 32cm x depth of body 5.5cm and 13 frets
All In All A Nice Looking Instrument Which With A Little Time And Effort Will Become Something Very Special.
