Scottish born Andrew Carnegie was an industrialist and philanthropist during the later part of the 1800s into the early 1900s. He made his fortune in the steel industry and created U.S. Steel Company which he later sold to J.P. Morgan for a sum of $303, 450, 000 making him the richest man in the United states at the time, surpassing even Rockefeller. Carnegie devoted the later part of his life to philanthropy with a focus on libraries, scientific research and museums. Brown Brothers retains the copyright for this image(s).
