Genuine Antarctica Official Issue Gear Worn in Antarctica at The South Pole Station
The winning bidder gets the parka with official USARP Patch, parka liner, bibs, bib liner, and duffle bag with name tag, bus station tag, and lock (no key). There is even the small bits of repair cloth and extra buttons. All pieces are in good condition.
This ensemble once belonged to Ron Davis, geomagnetist-seismologist at&nb...sp;South Pole Station in 1963.
Ron even had an Antarctica geographical feature named for him:
The Davis Nunataks (85°37′S 166°36′E
) are a small cluster of rock nunataks 3 nautical miles (6 km) northwest of Mount Ward, the feature being a southern outlier of the main body of the Dominion Range. The group was named by the Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names for Ronald N. Davis, a United States Antarctic Research Program geomagnetist-seismologist at South Pole Station, winter 1963.[1]
