1954 Gretsch Synchromatic 6030 Constellation Vintage Archtop Acoustic Guitar
Item History & Price
The maple neck has a very full "baseball bat" C shaped profile with generous shoulders and consistent depth as you travel up the fretboard. The Brazilian rosewood fretboard features multi-ply binding and pearl block inlay, with original frets that are just shy of medium jumbo in terms of width and crown. The frets show virtually no wear, playing cleanly in all registers with no buzzing or dead spots. A new carved bone nut measures 1 3/4" in width, allowing for optimal spacing for complex chording and fingerstyle work if desired. The headstock is fitted with original gold plated Waverly tuning machines which still work as intended and turn smoothly.
On the body, the original Brazilian rosewood stairstep bridge is intact with a small amount of room for adjustment on both thumbwheels. A premium Gretsch model, the 6030 Constellation features bound F holes, top and back binding, and binding around the original mottled tortoise pickguard. The harp tailpiece is original and retains extremely clean gold plating. A crack-free instrument with a gorgeous and unfaded Sunburst lacquer finish, the guitar exhibits some light finish scratches on the back and inconsequential nicks on the guitar as a whole, as well as vertical lacquer checking on the body. The rich sunburst highlights the ripples of flame figuring in the maple central to the back too.
This Gretsch comes complete with its original tweed hardshell case.
