Vintage General Radio Co V10H VIOH Variac 230V 4A,
Item History & Price
It is presently wired with type A plug and socket, for 120V. I tested it on 120V with my Dremel rotary tool, it is working perfectly. I do not have a small motor at hand that I can wire up for 240V, and this model doesn't seem to work well with resistive loads, at least not with 120V on the primary. I am also selling a Ge...neral Radio Co 120V 5A variac that does work with a light bulb to test, I was a little surprised when I couldn't test this one with the same setup.
I strongly recommend you re-wire this with ground before use, but the wiring as found is in good condition, supple with no breaks or insulation loss that I can see. I am not doing this because I cannot know what combination of plug and outlet you will need. Heavy, overseas shipping would be prohibitively expensive, but I will give you a quote if you ask.
