Antique Victorian Gothic Striped Silk Taffeta Afternoon Gown c 1900.
Antique Victorian era Gothic afternoon gown circa 1900. This stunning piece is fashioned of striped black silk taffeta and black felt wool vest. The gown is one piece with the vest attached. It opens with snaps and hooks and eyes at the front and vest criss crosses and snaps around to the back as shown.Condition:Condition is very good to age; The vest and lower section of dress is made if what feels like wool felt,... there are a few pin holes here and there in lower felt hem, did not see any on the vest, the wool felt feels strong, I found only one small 1” tear on the inside lower right sleeve, the taffeta is strong and overall very nice, the white stripes have a little color loss as shown in photos, overall the dress is wearable as shown and has no smells or odors.
