This coat/shirt featuresU.S. Army and name tapes, Colonel rank patch, 4th Division patch, PacificCommand patch, Ranger tab, CIB badge patch, Combat Medic badge patch, andMedical Service Corps badge patch. In good condition considering age, use, andstorage with some overall wear and light dirt/dust. Sized Medium Short --measures approx. 19" shoulder to shoulder, 24" armpit toarmpit, 27" shoulder to bottom hem, and 24" shoulder to sleevecuff. Note unique slant pockets on BDU ...jacket.I believe this belonged to Colonel James Walter Vallandingham: "James Walter Vallandingham passed away on October 8, 2007 inSan Antonio, Texas.He was born the son of the late Marvin and Lois Vallandingham onMarch 8, 1935, in Hinton, West Virginia, a small town where the GreenbrierRiver, the New River, and the Bluestone River meet. After graduation fromHinton High School, he had his first tour in the US Army from 1953 to 1955, where he served in the infantry. Upon his discharge in 1955, he worked for therailroad and sent himself to college at Morris-Harvey College, where he wouldearn a B.S. in Economics.He joined the Army again in 1960, this time as a commissionedofficer in the Medical Service Corps. He remained in the Army until hisretirement as a Colonel in 1990. While in the Army, he earned a Masters ofPublic Health from University of Pittsburgh, and a Masters in Education fromUniversity of Southern California. He served in the Fourth Infantry Division inViet Nam in 1969-70, and was highly decorated.Included among his honors were five Bronze Stars, Combat MedicBadge, Expert Infantryman's Badge, Ranger Tag, Soldiers' Medal, Air Medal, several Army Commendation Medals, two National Defense Service Medals, Vietnamese Campaign Medal with two stars, Vietnamese Service Medal, VietnameseCross of Gallantry Medal, and Vietnamese Civic Actions Medal."
