1887 Old Judge N172 Card. Bust portrait of Adrian "Cap" Anson in street clothes. Pose #11-1 in the Goodwin book. PSA has determined the card to be authentic, but altered in some way. They don't disclose exactly what the alteration is. My guess is that the dark horizontal blemish visible on the top right of the front could've been some kind of stain or crease removal attempt. Image is in good condition; still visible, but with some contrast issues, es...pecially the top of Anson's head, which is a common issue with this card. Surface wrinkle running vertically along the back. General edgewear, yellowing, and soiling. To be expected considering the card is 132 years old. Despite the flaws, a nice budget card of one of the most coveted and legendary players in the N172 set, and priced for less than other numerically graded examples.
