We had to relist this item since we forgot to add pictures of his black cap. This set is 100% complete and beautiful including his rare black stocking cap.
This is a beautiful example of an early Mattel Big Josh Talking Backpack Camping set. It is beautiful with original clothing and backpack. It appears very new and in proper working condition. These are not easily found in such clean and excellent condition (probably as nice as you can possibly ...find a loose one on ebay). This has been in storage for decades and never displayed. The condition makes it doubtful that it was ever really played with... and it was certainly not abused. The figure shows no significant signs of play. His arms and legs are very tight but move freely. His arms are perfectly matched to his body and NOT discolored. He does not have melt marks under his armpits. His outfit is still very clean and sharp. His snaps for the shirt are still shiny and perfectly attached. The backpack speaks properly... it is not slow nor fast nor skips... his phrases are beautiful and very clear. I am unsure how many things he says, but wow is it cool. I only tested it briefly for condition with great care. The backpack shows a few small "melt marks" from being stored next to another Big Jim accessory (pic 12). The face paint is beautiful. He is an early Big Josh with BIG BLUE EYES unlike later models and international versions. There are no chips in his wrists. Please view pictures. It is extremely clean. He has the proper rare plastic boots, they are not rubber... and they are not melted or torn! Very rare. One sock has a fabric run which is well covered by boots. We will include an additional pair of socks in very good condition for your collection. We didn't want to separate or change the unique pieces to this set. Overall there might be the slightest of storage or factory wear as with all of these 40 year old toys. This is a gem! This would make a spectacular display as it has always been in storage and hasn't been susceptible to the elements for nearly four decades. This is why his arms are not faded and his clothes and appear so new. It just needs a new home. A very unique and beautiful collectible. We will ship as he appears and package all for safety.
