(100% GENUINE) BACKGROUND HISTORY: It has been the controversy since1969s of who gain the title of "The World First AutomaticChronograph". Zenith & Heuer come out with their El-Primero andCaliber 11 in 1969s and they were produced to global market as early as Augustto September 1969. In the other world, SEIKO has quietly announced its ownjapan domestic market automat...ic chronograph in early 1969s and the earliestproduction recorded as early as May 1969s. It was SEIKO 5 Speed-timerChronograph. Since then, the history of SEIKO Automatic Chronograph has begun.The word Speed-Timer was due to the 30 minutes register at 12:00 and it hasfixed Tachymeter bezel plus inner rotating ring. SEIKO Caliber 6139 has been one ofthe most robust automatic chronographs and it is equipped with both a verticalclutch and a column wheel. It beats at 21600 Bph and has some features such asquick-set bilingual day/date (English & Kanji) and 30 minutes counterchronograph. Caliber 6139 had been in production since 1969s to 1979s. However, due to the robustness and durability, collectors are still able find greatexamples of SEIKO 6139 running in perfect condition. SEIKO 6139 had been produced forboth global and japan domestic market (JDM). The different between JDM andglobal model is the existence of "Speed-Timer" label on the dialinstead of only standard "Chronograph Automatic" notation on the dial.The "Speed-Timer" model is famously sought by a lot SEIKO Collectorsdue to its exclusiveness to ONLY Japanese Domestic Market (JDM). There were many variants that fallunder SEIKO 6139, however one of the most famous, which claim to be The WorldFirst Chronograph in Space is SEIKO 6139-6002 AKA "Pogue" in SunBurst Yellow Dial Color. Captain Pogue wore this watch during his SKYLABmission in 1973. The one that being worn by him is the SEIKO 6139 Global Modelas there was no "Speed-Timer" word on the dial. This global variant, in great genuine condition, is extremely hard to find today. For collectors, the JDM model ofSeiko 6139 is those highly sought after. JDM variants have some additionalmarkings. One is deep red color "SpeedTimer" notation at 12:00. Second is "5Sports Water 70 Proof" at 9:00. These markings are only for those producedbetween 1969 to 1971. After these periods, the marking has changed with "5Sports" at 12:00 and "SpeedTimer" at 9:00. Though collectors were put theirfocus mostly on JDM model, however they will preferably choose those producedin early era, especially those with "Proof" markings on the dial or these wererare because they were produced only in short time period from early 1969 tobeginning of 1970. After these eras, the dial markings had changed to "Resist"due to Seiko was complying with the mandate that they need to change theirmarkings in order to reflect that the timepieces were water resistant. Not onlythe dial has "Proof" marking, but it must be matched with the "Water Proof"engraved case back. This was to ensure that the case back was genuine. 'Resist'dial mostly will be equipped with "Water Resistant" case back. Beside Proof marking dial and caseback, another variation that preferred by watch collectors was the notch case.The notch is on the side by the crown. Notch case was also available in veryshort period ranging from 1969 to early 1971; hence it is much more desirableto watch collectors. After this era, Seiko had been using non-notch case. Talking about the current example isthe pretty rare black dial JDM Seiko 6139-6032. On this timepiece, there aresome characteristics that the Seiko Chronograph collectors looking for such as "SpeedTimer"notation at 9:00 and "Seiko 5 Sports" at 12:00, which are only available on JDMmodel. As this watch produced in 1971, hence there are no more notch case beingused and case back engraving has been changing to 'Water Resistant". Besidesthe watch case and dial, the so called "JDM Bracelets" is also highly seek aswell as most of the straps has gone missing and to get second hand or new oldstock JDM bracelets is extremely difficult. One new old stock JDM braceletscould easily go for 700 to 800 USD bucks. Though it is not as rare as its olderbrother with notch case and proof dial, it was still difficult to find one thatfully original and in good decent condition. WHY THIS WATCH SEIKO Speed-Timer 6139 is one of themost robust automatic chronographs watch ever produced by SEIKO since 1969s. Itis the variant that being hunted by a lot of SEIKO collectors, especially theJDM variant that being sold only in Japan, which characterized with red "SpeedTimer"and "Seiko 5 Sports" notation. The currentexample here is equipped with black dial with black inner rotating ring bezeland bright color black and red Tachymeter fix bezel (Coke Color). It has uniquelysharp cutting on 42mm diameter case with crown recessed to the case at 3:00. The chronograph hands in orange color addsanother unique touch on it. It is indeed a very cool, funky, and fashion thateven will not get outdated even nowadays. Beside its unique and strong outerlook, this timepiece is also equipped with the robust Seiko 6139A caliber thatwas produced only few years since 1969 to approximately early 1971. JDM versionof caliber 6139 is equipped with higher 21 jewels compared to the internationalmodel of 17 jewels. As we know, the higher the jewels, the higher the qualityof the movements and Seiko only produced these for domestic markets. No wonder, most of Seiko 6139 calibers are still working fine till today even though ithas already over 40 years old. Of course, with proper maintenance is requiredin order to expand its lifetime. THE CORE DETAILS The condition of this watch is verygood. The case is still preserving very sharp edges. In order to maintain theoriginality of the case, we didn?t perform any polishing on the case.For further details about every aspectof the watch, please refer to the high-quality pictures attached carefully.This watch is in very good condition and there is no such thing as perfect forover 40 years old watch. Our vision is focusing on originality. Dial: The black dial is in very mintcondition and there is no sign of wear despite the age. It is completelyoriginal dial (No Re-Lume or Re-Dial). The silver color sub-register isvery clean as well and all the printing are very clear and crisp. Under 12:00markers, the notation is in silver color and written as 'Seiko 5 Sports' and at9:00 marker is deep red 'SpeedTimer' notation. The dial code on 6:00 is 'JAPAN6139 and -6050T'. Overall, the printing on the dial code are still wellmaintained with the clear and crisp white silver printing is still very clearand no sign of aging. Hand Sets: The white color hands are prettygood and in clean condition. There is no corrosion visible on them. The handsluminous plot slightly contains blackish color on the luminous edges due to theluminous materials being used by Seiko in the past and when it is aged, itsomehow turned into blackish lume plot. The orange Chronographs handsets paintare currently in good condition as well. Kindly note that this is the originalluminous and there is No Re-lume or Re-condition. Bezel: The fixed bright ?Coke? colortachymeter in current example is preserved very well with the black and redpaint is still intact and no sign of fading. The silver anodized numberprinting are all still crisp and clear. Kindly note that there are some dingsor dents on the edges of the bezel and some light scratches on it due to theusage by previous owner. Please refer carefully to the high-quality pictures onour portal. Movement: The 21 Jewels SEIKO automaticCaliber 6139A is running perfectly. This movement has quick-set day and dateand automatic winding. The day is bilingual English and Japan Kanji. There isno hand-wind function. The chronograph function is working well and able to resetback to 12:00 position. The chronograph pushers are responsive wellwithout sticky feeling. Case: This current timepiece stainless steelscrew-back case is preserved in very good condition and still maintainssharpness on each of the edges. There are some light scratches and dings on thecase sides, which normal due to usage in the past. The screw case back wordingsare engraved in circular manner. It is written as ?Stainless Steel 6139-6032Water Resistant?. Below of the serial number is 'Japan J' engraving, which isproven that this is the JDM model. Overall the case is preserved quite welldespite the age and still maintains original Seiko polishing. Crystal : The thick genuine SEIKO Hardlexcrystal is in good condition and there are not much visible or deep scratches onit, but there is a small chip on edge near to 1:30. Some light scratches are dueto the usage in the past. Please refer carefully to the high-qualitypictures on our portal. Crown : The genuine SEIKO 6139 crown are ingood condition and works smoothly. It is unsigned crown and not the screw-downtype. There is a dimple in the middle of the crown. Only the original Seiko 6139crown has the dimple on it. The chronograph pushers are very responsive andworking very well too. Function: Time, 30 minutes registerChronograph and Bilingual Day/Date indicator Display. Currently all offunctions are running perfectly and running well. (Fully overhauled byprofessional watchmaker). Strap:This current example come with genuineSeiko 6139 JDM Bracelets, which is very rare, and this is the most uniquebracelets that designed only to match JDM variants of Seiko 6139. The buckle isengraved with 'Seiko 5 Sports' notations. Due to the rarity, the bracelet itselfwill cost close to 1K USD.
