Owner for past 7 years. Lots of fun and fully able to be used as-is. EXTREMELY RARE- Please note that the price/value is based on rarity as much as anything, you are not likely to find another one like it. If you are looking for something light weight, compact, unique and fun, this might be it. If you are looking for something shiny and new, this is definitely not it.
DETAILS:
AIR CONDITIONING IS ICE COLD. 8, 000 BTU unit allows for summer camping in a hot region. Unit is 7 years... old, with minimal useage.
Weight is around 1, 500 lbs, so can be towed with nearly anything. I have towed as far as Northern Georgia and back to S. Florida with a 4-cylinder Ford Escape with no issues. In addition to the light weight, the low wind resistance, due to the low height with the top lowered, makes this camper really easy to tow. It is also fairly narrow, which makes the side-to side bed lengths less desireable for taller individuals, but allows for good rear visibility with side-mirrors.
Tires are nearly new. Bearings have quick-lube fittings and are in good shape. Camper has been used within the last year.
Lighting all works, with the exception of some of the central overhead "clearance" lights, which I deemed unecessary due to it only being 5' or so high with the top down. would likely work fine with bulbs installed.
Exterior paint it dulled and weathered. I had dreams of vinyl wrapping or applying Plasti-Dip to the whole thing, but never found the time. I did coat the back end with Plasti-Dip a few years ago- it looks decent but can be peeled off if desired.
Canvas material is aged but sound, some of the screens are torn or removed.
Interior ceiling has a "soft" area towards the rear. It has been this way the entire time we have owned it and has not become any worse nor does it affect function. Recoating the roof with an appropriate and expensive elastomeric product was one of the very first things I did seven years ago. The roof looks dingy and could probably use a fresh coat of sealer, but is sound and watertight.
A previous owner did some sloppy welding on the rear bumper for no good reason (some poor attempt at built-in leveling jacks). Doesn't really affect anything, just looks odd up close.
A previous owner also backed it into something at some point. A small amount of damaged straightened-out damage can be seen up close at the bottom by the door, but again does not affect anything.
The lift system for the tops of these (most commonly seen on slide-in pickup bed campers) was not the greatest design. This one was upgraded with an expensive heavy-duty ratcheting mechanism, which works great and eliminates the inherent design flaws of the lift system, but is a bit bulky in appearance. I had intended to encase it and dress it up at some point, but never got around to it.
Interior was redone seven years ago, it is clean and comfortable. Wallpaper seams are separating. Lightweight "luxury vinyl" tile looks great. Upholstry and Mattress foam were new at that time.
Three beds- Two full-size and one twin XL (convertable sofa).
Sink is direct hose hookup and drain (no tanks). No other plumbing.
30Amp electrical service. DC converter on board in good working order. No battery currently installed or wired for.
Has been stored under cover and with DampRid dehumidification regularly changed since we have owned it.
