8-bit ISA cardhas an Intel 286-10 CPU and Intel 287-10 Math CoProcurrently using a 24MHz plug-in clock crystalfor a over-clocked speed of 12MHz
the 12MHz speed may be too fast for some old programsso if you ever have any problems then consider retrurning to the original 10MHz CPU speed by swapping in a 20MHz crystal
PROBLEM:the ribbon cable that goes to the CPU ...socket on the motherboardis NOT ORIGINAL and does not support a concurrent 8088 CPUso, although the current configuration works great and gives a 10X boost it does not allow "on-the-fly" selectionbetween the original 8088 CPU and the 286 overdrive
we also suggest that you may want to fashion a foil sheath for the cable, ie. wrap it in aluminum foil and cover with non-conductive tapeto reduce electric noise, it works fine as it is but the original cablehad some such thick insulation
we tested this card in a genuine IBM 5150 PC and it is amazing
we have added a high quality 40-pin adapter that plugs on top of the more delicate pins and adds thick gold-plated pins that plug into the motherboardthis serves two purposes:it protects the main connector and preserves your investmentit provides a much more reliable connection for the CPU
the card has at least 64k cache onboard, we left it disabled because configuring the memory page(s)is a computer-dependant activity depending upon how manyother upgrade cards are in the computer.
